From the Board
The 2019 RPSBS Annual is on it’s way
The Board of Directors on behalf of the members thanks all those who have assisted in the production of the annual especially the editor and production designer, Despina Mitrakas of Show Pony Graphics.
Members are encouraged that whenever they get a great or interesting photograph of their Riding Pony or have had a successful show to submit the photo and information online on the RPSBS web page. It might just make the next annual. I hope you all enjoy reading it as much as I have.

There was a great turnout out at the recent judges clinic, this enabled members of RPSB, EV and SHC to attend one session for judging eligibility across the three associations. A fantastic idea and congratulations to all involved with this progressive concept.
We are currently finalizing our show calendar with some new ideas in the wings and keep an eye out for ‘Rosette’ hitting your inbox in spring.
WA Committee News
We have had a good start to our WA season now holding both Led & Ridden Riding Pony of the Year as well as the Ridden Newcomer Championships. In the heat of summer we had Beverley Moore from UK judge our Led Riding Pony of the Year and we received some wonderful comments on our show pony and show hunter types.
- Led Show Pony of the Year was Caris & Brittany Reside’s Leeara Park Elizabeth Arden
- Led Show Hunter Pony of the Year Shannara Beresi’s Karma Park Royal Secret
- Overheight Hack/Hunter Cimeron King of Pop of Helen & Anna Duffy.
With the lovely sponsorship from Brooke Tremain for Grand Champion, the show pony filly Leeara Park Elizabeth Arden took home the “Mirinda Spring Magic Tribute Award” in honour of Brooke’s riding pony mare who she tragically lost.
Due to the February heat the committee decided it would be better to hold the Newcomer Championships & Ridden Riding Pony of Year later in the season. We were fortunate enough for this show to be held in conjunction with Riverside Championship day on 21st July. The day started with a few light showers, but that didn’t seem to bother the newcomer ponies all producing lovely workouts.
Congratulations to the 2019 Newcomer Winners:
- Show Pony – Yartarla Park Masterpiece owned and ridden by Cara Douglas.
- Show Hunter – Broadwater Park Manhatten owned by Janice Keelan by ridden Anna Duffy.
- Overheight Hack/Hunter – Kirralea Showman owned and ridden by Julie Sabine.

To start the program for Ridden RPOTY the first class was the Presidents Trophy. An event judged as a smartest on the parade combining not only confirmation, but manners & paces as well as the overall picture. This pretty combination was won by Julie Cox’ Breebrooke Exclusive and beautifully ridden by Cody Lambert.
In an effort to encourage our juniors we added two new classes to the program – Rider of the Year un12yrs & Rider of the Year 12- un 18yrs. Only criteria for these classes was the rider must be a financial member mounted on a registered riding pony. The class under 12yrs was won by Erin Bertola and the 12&un 18yrs won by Mia Farrell.
As the sun started to appear so did our lovely riding ponies for Ridden Riding Pony of the Year. Some seasoned campaigners and some newcomers but all looking at their best and working super
