2021 October Bulletin

Chair Report

At this time many States of Australia are still in lockdown and this will have a long lasting impact on all RP State events as well as for other Breed Societies, leaving us all with beautiful Riding Ponies all dressed up and nowhere to go. The positive aspect is that there are still some outlets for you to enjoy your ponies, Trail rides, learning new workouts and ringcraft skills for the next show, refining your led workouts  or booking a stud shoot for your precious ponies that can be later used to promote your stud or enter into an online photo competition. You may also have time to look thru old photos and display your memories on a new wall at home.

A timely reminder to start thinking of what you can contribute to the next RPSBS Annual, I’m sure Despina (publicity@rpsbs.com.au) would love some input from Members and past members about Sires that are still standing at stud or retired or passed, and in form the newer members about their legacy that they have left for future RP generations.

It is the season to start planning your future breeding to your mares, the RP Stallions are being featured on the RP Facebook page. If you would like your stallion added to our directory for $55.00 email publicity@rpsbs.com.au

Due to the lockdown the RP Board has implemented a new Judges format  using Zoom meetings with UK Breeders and showing personalities . Sara Parrott, Craig Elenor, Martin Jones Katy Carter and Richard Millar .These personalities were the first to be invited to discuss what is happening overseas, there were 200 applications to attend this evening with 150 eventually coming online. This was well received with many comments coming back to the Board , all very positive.

In addition to this seminar Greg Gerry has also put into place an evening called “Coffee Catchup “for a smaller group and the first session was with Jerome Harforth UK, 18 attendees were online and all were able to ask some very relevant questions of Jerome.

There will be more of this type of information evenings coming up soon so look out for the registration forms on FB and the RP website, they are free to all members.

From the National Office

Although NSW is coming out of covid lockdown, Government heath order still require staff to work from home where at all possible. In compliance with these orders, staff continue to work remotely only accessing the office in order to access things that can’t be done from home. As a result the office phones are not manned and we would ask people to continue to email with a request to be honed back if you cannot find the information you need by utilising the website. Please summarise the nature of your query so that the appropriate person can phone you and also the best contact phone number for staff to use and a time convenient to you for the return call.

When depositing funds into the RPSBS bank account it is important that the related paperwork is immediately emailed to teresa@rpsbs.com.au The accounts cannot be reconciled without the associated paperwork.

When emailing paperwork to the Society please ensure that documents are scanned and attached as PDF files rather than photographed and embedded into the email. Please be sure to complete all sections of the form including transfer dates (transfer forms), dates of birth, colour, sire, dam and name of pony (registration applications).

Sadly due to COVID we had to cancel our Junior Development Clinic that was to be held at WPEC end of July. Please note that once we are comfortable in regards to restrictions etc we will arrange an alternative event.

Our Rosette E Mag will be out shortly, there is still space available in our stallions showcase so please contact me on salisbury.stud@bigpond.com

What should be a bumper month for Riding Pony enthusiasts is once again proving to be very quiet on the show front. But we are so close to 4 am mornings again! What are we thinking?!?!

On the breeding front though we have action aplenty. Our social media platforms are full of photos of the beautiful new arrivals taking their first tiny steps in this world. It’s fantastic to see breeders sharing their exciting news and particularly interesting to see how different crosses are working. Congratulations to all our breeders who continue to supply our show ponies. An often expensive and risky business, Thankyou to you all.
