2024 January Bulletin

Office Report

A reminder that Royal Show checks are currently being conducted, therefore, please ensure that:

  • All owners / exhibitors / handlers / riders are current financial members of the Riding Pony Stud Book Society Ltd. AND
  • That all ponies must be registered, transferred or leased to their correct owner/lessee, and entered as such.

Please ensure you allow adequate time prior to the close of entries to have your unregistered or not transferred/leased ponies paperwork completed.  Members requesting transactions to be processed at short notice will be charged the published Fast Track Fee AND are not guaranteed that they will be completed if lodged at the eleventh hour prior to a show.

We always strive to do our best to accommodate members lodging paperwork and requiring it quickly, however, some matters are beyond our control, particularly if your paperwork is incomplete, incorrect or lodged just a day or two before the show.

ALSO NOTE THAT a $20 send back fee will be imposed for any paperwork that has to be returned a second time to the member for corrections or omissions. Read the paperwork and ensure EVERYTHING is completed correctly prior to lodgement.

2024 VIC Riding Pony of the Year 2935333.jpg

What a show our Riding Pony of the Year Show was held at Werribee last weekend with over 60 horses entered combining in more than 120 class entries.

Huge day with such a positive vibe prior to competition and still now post competition. We couldn’t be happier with how the day went and the comradery between competitors and appreciation was great to be a part of. Great numbers, great quality = great problem to have.

Thank you to Elise Hams for coming over to judge. Elise and her parents have been long term breeders & competitors with their hugely successful Sanlirra Stud in SA. Thanks Elise for your calm consistency on what was a long day.

NSW Committee

The NSW committee sends their best wishes for a speedy recovery to all the Riding Pony Stud Book Society members who have been victims of the recent terrible weather in Queensland and now in Victoria.  Most of us in NSW have been spared by the weather gods – so far.

The NSW committee hosted a very successful show in November and the results can be found on the NSW website. We also wish to again acknowledge the wonderful sponsors who have been so loyal to the Riding ponies in NSW.  We look forward to working with you again this year.  We hope to announce the 2024 show date very soon.

The show season has just started back for us in NSW and members are looking forward to showing our beautiful ponies again.  Many of our Agricultural shows have Riding Pony classes so your support for these classes is vital for the show societies to continue to maintain our classes.  If your local show does not have Riding Pony classes please contact the NSW RP Committee via the secretary – alison@daisypatchstud.com.au, so the committee can reach out to the Society to offer our support.

Members are reminded that to show a Riding Pony, especially at a Royal show or our State show , your membership must be current and the pony be registered correctly.  Please contact the National office on 02 4577 5530 to check your status.

The Canberra Royal show will be here with us before we know it and I believe the number of entries is again outstanding, all entries will be checked to ensure they are correct.  If you receive a call or an email regarding your entry please respond quickly so the matter can be sorted and Canberra officials can move forward.  The same process will be undertaken for Sydney Royal Easter show entries.

The judge for the Riding Pony ring at Canberra is Ms Melinda DeRooy and at Sydney Ms Fiona Clark – both these ladies are Panel judges and the NSW committee thanks them for giving so freely of their time and expertise at these shows.

Members are reminded that courtesy and politeness in the ring towards Judges, stewards and fellow competitors is expected at all times.  The RPSBS has a Social Media policy, all competitors should acquaint themselves with this Policy prior to returning to showing our ponies..

Best of luck to all members who have entered to exhibit at Canberra and or Sydney, we look forward to spectacular results from NSW members.

Again if you have any questions regarding the status of your membership or your pony’s registration please contact the National office  – they will help you
